Harpartap Sandhu, M.D.

Co-Founder and VP, Emundi Foundation

Harpartap Sandhu, MD, is an emergency physician, board-certified in Emergency Medicine and Internal Medicine, with nearly three decades of frontline experience caring for patients in rural and small urban communities. Since 2007, he has practiced at Enloe Health in Chico, California, a busy Level II Trauma Center where the emergency department manages more than 70,000 visits each year.

At Enloe, Dr. Sandhu pairs bedside clinical excellence with systems-level leadership—supporting continuing medical education, clinical quality improvement, and team readiness for time-critical emergencies. His work has included strengthening protocols for ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) care, supporting antimicrobial stewardship, and mentoring clinicians through CME and trauma-team training, including the American College of Surgeons’ Rural Trauma Team Development Course.

In addition to his Enloe practice, Dr. Sandhu provides part-time emergency coverage at Seneca Healthcare District Hospital in Chester, helping extend specialty access across California’s North State. Earlier in his career, he practiced and held emergency department leadership roles in Missouri and Northern California, including service at Oroville Hospital.

Dr. Sandhu completed residency training in Emergency Medicine at Washington University in St. Louis and earlier trained in Internal Medicine, after earning his MBBS from Government Medical College, Amritsar, India. His academic interests center on diagnostic reasoning and patient safety; he has co-authored peer-reviewed work exploring cognitive processes in emergency clinical decision-making.

A multilingual physician fluent in English, Hindi, Punjabi, and Urdu, Dr. Sandhu is known for compassionate, culturally responsive care and a collaborative approach with EMS, hospitalists, cardiology, and trauma services. He brings an outcomes-driven perspective to the Foundation’s mission to help create a new medical school for the California North State—strengthening the physician pipeline and improving access to high-quality care for underserved communities.
