Shailesh Nandish, MD, is a board-certified interventional cardiologist whose career has been defined by a quest to build advanced cardiovascular care systems that bring the most sophisticated therapies directly to the communities that need them most. Since joining Enloe Health in 2019, he has led the creation and expansion of a comprehensive cardiology program for California’s North State—transforming access to complex heart and vascular care close to home.
A specialist in coronary, peripheral, and structural heart interventions, Dr. Nandish’s clinical practice spans the full spectrum of modern interventional cardiology, including transcatheter aortic and mitral valve therapies (TAVR and TMVR), left atrial appendage closure, complex coronary interventions, and advanced endovascular procedures. His expertise extends to the care of critically ill patients, where he has helped establish cardiogenic shock programs utilizing mechanical circulatory support systems such as Impella and ECMO—bringing lifesaving capabilities to regions that historically lacked access to such care.
At Enloe Health, Dr. Nandish serves not only as a clinician, but as an architect of systems—developing from the ground up an integrated cardiovascular service line that includes structural heart programs, catheterization laboratory leadership, and multidisciplinary care pathways. His work reflects a disciplined combination of technical mastery and operational vision, aligning teams, technologies, and protocols to deliver consistently high-quality, patient-centered outcomes across a geographically dispersed region.
Prior to his work in California, Dr. Nandish spent nearly a decade with Prairie Cardiovascular Consultants in Illinois, where he played a central role in building and scaling structural heart and vascular programs, expanding valve clinics, and integrating cardiovascular care across regional hospital networks. He also led innovative initiatives such as chest pain systems integrated with emergency medical services, improving triage efficiency and accelerating access to definitive care.
A committed educator and investigator, Dr. Nandish has trained fellows, residents, and medical students throughout his career and has contributed to major clinical trials, including PARTNER II and III, REPRISE, and ABSORB. His work reflects a sustained commitment to advancing the field while mentoring the next generation of physicians.
Dr. Nandish earned his medical degree from Bangalore Medical College in India and completed his residency in internal medicine at Southern Illinois University, followed by fellowships in cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. He is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, interventional cardiology, and vascular medicine.
Known for his empathy in patient care as well as his precision and unwavering focus on outcomes, Dr. Nandish brings a builder’s mindset to every endeavor—advancing not only procedures, but the systems of care that sustain them. Through this work, he continues to demonstrate that world-class cardiovascular care can—and should—be built within the communities it serves.
